Natural Shaving Soap ^-^

I've been on a bit of a shopping spree, and have lots of lovely new products to try, I'm going to try all of them, and write honestly about them here.

I also have 3 other "Volunteers" to help me, my Mother, my father, and my girlfriend, who I am certain can't wait to get started.

All of our natural skin products are made by hand, in a shop window, in full view of the general public, by two lovely ladies. No hidden nasties here!

Tonight I've used the natural shaving soap, I've been a bit scruffy recently, and I try to avoid shaving at times, because I simply don't see the point, why waste all that water, time and soap every morning, when you don't need too, or like me work from home.

That and I have sensitive skin, so it can be quite painful.

First impressions, well it looks nice, all wrapped up in it's own ceramic (reusable) shaving bowl. It smells divine, even through the wrapper, well I like lime so I guess you could say I'm biased!

I opened it up, ran hot water into a sink, and grabbed my synthetic shaving brush ( No badger hair for me thanks!), and placed a hot flannel on my face.

I took it off, and placed the brush in the hot water, I squeezed it out a bit, and swirled it around the bowl to produce a rich thick lather.

The first thing I noticed was the warm rich smell of sage that had now appeared, then as I spread it on my face, how smooth and thick the shaving soap was.

I shaved using a new-ish razor, I'd used it a few times, but it still had that nice sharp edge to it.

The shaving was really smooth, and the blade literally followed the surface of my skin, I didn't have to use much pressure, and I didn't have to re shave the same place.

I thought it would be great to see what happened if you used a fair bit of water on the brush, and to see how light and bubbly I could get it.

Whoosh! It foams up pretty well, especially if you think nothing nasty went into this natural product. I used this froth to shave my face and cheeks, it didn't take any time at all before I was smooth as a baby's bottom.

I squeezed off the froth, now for the real test, the upper lip of doom!

Reverting to the thicker lather I made earlier I tentatively applied it to my top lip, expecting the sensation of plucking and afterburn of chilli.

I was pretty amazed when it didn't, well at least not like it normally does, it was honestly pretty painless for me.

Maybe its the lack of chemicals, or the fact it's made of shea butter, olive oil, and all sorts of natural moisturising gooodies, maybe I was just lucky ( this being the first try), it just didn't burn.

Ive cut the shaving cake in half and given the other bit to my dad, we are both going to try it for a week and see how it goes.

New Logo

I've been trying to get a logo sorted out for the website, I admitt its taken me a fair bit of time to do, so eventually I ended up having to pay someone to do it.

My graphic design skills really arn't that good, and I guess with my Dyslexia, and Dyspraxia I get in more of a muddle than I should.

Oh well, at least it's done I suppose I could always get it changed in the future.

I was trying to get something that looked fresh and funky, but that was eay to read.

What do you think?

Wheeeeeeeeeee!

Hey,

I know it's been months since I last posted but I got tied up trying to get Eco2you set up, and almost forgot about this blog!

I finally got funding from Princes Trust and SWIG, I also got some Objective One Funding from ACTNOW which was great.

I don't know if any of you have tried as an long term unemployed person to set up your own business, trust me it takes ages, but I'm getting closer to my goal.

Business is a nasty, dirty word, perhaps I should use social enterprise, I'm trying to promote smaller local producers, and intend to give as much back to them as I can.

I also want to promote the environment and ethical issues, and support Action Aid Charity.

I'm intending to use my blog a lot more now, and hope to start posting eco tips, have discussions on current topics, and to of course make you smile and laugh.

Hopefully I'll have some different people writing this blog with me too, them commenting from their perspective, wherever they are in the world. Should be really exciting, watch this space!

I'm a bit of a crap typer and speller, I try and blame that onm my dsylexia, but if you can bear with me I'll try my best, I promise.

My girlfriend is still with me, standing by me, helping me out, it seems everyone has been, I just don't want to let them down.

Onwards and Upwards.

The only way to go!

Welcome to Eco2you

It's been 5 months, 5 months of working through courses, market research, 5 months of wanting to start, 5 months of missing freinds, family and those closest to me.

3 years ago I had a "life rethink", went to university, intent on becoming a nurse, so I could help others. I had had enough of working in a Bank, I wanted to give something back, I really did.

I went to University of Plymouth to do a degree in Psychiatric Nursing. I struggled, and in the end even with the help of a Dyslexia tutor I failed one of my modules. Thus I find myself at home, back in Cornwall, unemployed.

I've always had a passion for all things "green". I guess growing up in Cornwall, playing on the beaches, living in fowey, living near Eden, they all enable you to admire the beauty of the natural world. I always rember as a kid going to the beach at Porthpean, and seeing all sorts of wastes being washed up. I remember Kyaking at Charlestown and ending up in a sea of sewage.

I know due to campaigns in the 90's and still ongoing now, the effect that Surfers Against Sewage have had on the local beaches in Cornwall, and nationwide. I know that if it wasn't for groups like them that UV disinfection would not be saving lives of people day in day out, saving them from E coli and Hepatitis A.

My interest in the enivoroment is far wider ranging than just this, I guess I'm just trying to explain how directly it's affected me as I've grown up. Going to university really opened my eyes to all sorts of different issues worldwide about trade, debt and "aid", about HIV/AIDS, about sustainable living and climate change.

We all know Global warmings already here, the question is how much we can do NOW to make the Earth a safer place for everyone who comes after us, regardless of where they are in the world.

While I don't claim to be a visonary, far from it, I wanted to do somthing for my local area, something that would support the enviroment, something that would directly help charity's....so I decided to start Eco2you.co.uk

This is my life, this is my world.

Welcome.
